Box squats are great alternatives to regular full squats. Full squats when done with incorrect form can develop some nasty inflammation in the knee tendons. Utilising a box squat eliminates the extra knee bend you need to achieve a full squat so great alternative if you don’t have the flexibility to achieve a full squat. Give it a try 💪 Remember push knees out keep spine upright and be firm in your core. Control the weight down and push back up. Pick a moderate weight you can push.

The piriformis is very overlooked within all movement, and can certainly lay the smackdown on you via pain, SI joint discomfort, decreased movement efficiency, and many other issues. . 📍Here’s a breakdown of the muscle and the biggest issues commonly seen: ANATOMICAL FACTS ✔️It’s one of the six deep external rotators. It laterally rotates the femur with hip extension (Deadlifts & RDL's, etc.) and abducts the femur with hip flexion (squatting). It also externally rotates the sacrum and can be a major contributor to SI joint discomfort. . ✔️Piriformis is heavily correlated with the sciatic nerve as it passes underneath it and sometimes through it. Most people forget the piriformis not only attaches to the greater trochanter but the largest part of it is actually intra-pelvic. Overactive facilitation can contribute to many kinds of low back pain. This can be literally a "pain in the ass". The piriformis is also a synergist for glute max in hip extension. If glute max becomes inhibited, (very common), the piriformis has to pick up the slack and thus will be facilitated and neurologically overactive. . THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS ✔️The most common inbalance is a facilitated piriformis inhibiting same sided hip internal rotators. Release of the piriformis muscle is immediately followed by the activation of the internal rotators to reprogram the dysfunctional movement. . ✔️Also, when hip flexors, such as the psoas, become inhibited, the piriformis can become facilitated as well. Often the piriformis will be assisted by the same side QL (see previous post on this) to compensate for an inhibited psoas. ✔️Because it's an external rotator of the hip, it works with the opposite internal rotators to create ipsilateral lumbar rotation. Therefore, if you lack opposite hip internal rotation or same side IR or external rotation, it's likely the piriformis is involved. . 📍Scroll the see some movements to either strengthen or lengthen the piriformis. . TAKE-HOME MESSAGE Release AND stretch out piriformis both at the hip and socket joint and at the anterior sacrum. Feel better and move better, without having a pain in the ass! .

Today's training session was hard, toughest I had lately. . Was trying to break into the 230kg squat and I finally managed to do that. What more, got a double PR today 230kg and then finally hit 235kg @ 80kg body weight. . 1st - 210 kg . 2nd - 230 kg . 3rd - 235 kg . 4th - 220 kg x 2 Be patient, be humble. Leg workout quad focus Here’s a more quad focused leg workout to try out. It’s a higher volume lighter weight workout to switch it up from the heavy weight lower rep workouts. Had some pre breakfast squats today 😣 Not my favorite but getting it done. High bar 5 x 6 @ 200 ⁣ ⁣ Haven’t been under 200+lbs for months, and it feels REALLY fuckin good to finally be progressing, and with zero pain (limited aching at times, but it’s nothing that effects my lifts). ⁣ ⁣ Thinking that I’ll try low bar again sometime after thanksgiving, then the real progress will begin 😈

Sharing a quick lower body HIIT workout from last month—my bump has since grown a little🤰🏼😂—but I am still doing these exercises! Of course, everyone is different, so check with your doctor to make sure these are safe for you during pregnancy . Complete this circuit 4 times with 30 seconds rest in between.
